How many hours to study to clear SSC CHSL 2023 exam?

SSC recruits candidates for various government departments for multiple posts. The posts require different profiles and so the candidates require different skill sets. SSC CHSL is one of these posts through which you will be deputed under Grade-‘C’ & ‘D’ pay scales.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2023

As per the changed SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2023, there will be two different phases, which a candidate is required to clear in order to get selected for various posts in Government Offices.

1. SSC CHSL Tier I Exam is an Objective Multiple Choice Question paper

2. Tier 2 exam includes the following 3 sections having two modules each.

SSC CHSL Tier-I Exam Pattern

Please note that the total duration of Tier-1 is 60 minutes. However, this duration extends to 80 minutes for PwD candidates.

There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each incorrect answer. 

There will be 4 subjects with 100 questions (Objective Type) and each question carries 2 marks.

SSC CHSL Tier-II Exam Pattern (Revised)

SSC has revised the SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern and the new pattern has been detailed below-

Tier-II will include the following three sections having two modules each:

Section-1: Module-I: Mathematical Abilities and Module-II: Reasoning and General Intelligence.

Section-2: Module-I: English Language and Comprehension and Module-II: General Awareness

Section-3: Module-I: Computer Knowledge Test and Module-II: Skill Test/ Typing Test

Tier-2 will be conducted in two sessions – Session- 1 & Session-2, on same day. Session-I will include conducting of Section-1, Section-2 and Module-1 of Section-3. Session-2 will include conducting of Module-2 of Section-3.

Tier-2 will consist of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions, except for Module 2 of Section 3. The questions will be set in English and Hindi except for Module-2 (i.e. English Language and Comprehension module) in Section 2.

There will be negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section-1, Section-2 and Module-I of Section-3.

How many hours to study to clear SSC CHSL 2023 exam?

Sitting with your books day and night doesn’t guarantee you success in any competitive exam. Yes, you should invest proper time in covering all the topics of the syllabus. But there is no definite preparation time for all the candidates. It is important to plan your studies in an effective and efficient way to garner best results. Every student has her or her own study style and learning speed. Some students clear the exam just by studying 3 to 4 hours a day, while others devote 10 to 12 hours to cover the same syllabus.

Smart work is better than hard work. So, you need to make a logical timetable that you can follow in enjoy without getting frustrated at the end of the day. It is important to give equal time to all sections of the SSC CHSL exam and take SSC CHSL 2023 Mock Tests regularly to analyze your mistakes and weaknesses and make room for improvement.

Make sure you master basic concepts first and then gradually move to higher-level questions. Don’t forget that the shortest study plan (1-2 months) requires more and more study hours. For instance, if you want to prepare the SSC CHSL 2023 syllabus in 3 months you’ll have to invest 5 to 6 hours in your exam preparation. If it’s for 2 months you’ll have to invest 7 to 8 hours to study every day along with practice through Mock Test. Similarly, at least 4 hours are required for working candidates (office goers) to cover the SSC CHSL syllabus.

1. Quantitative Aptitude

Quantitative Aptitude requires maximum study time to practice the methods needed to solve the questions in a limited time. So, invest 2 to 3 hours a day for this section deliberately. Take as many Quants Mock Tests as you can to master this section.

2. General Intelligence and Reasoning

The reasoning section tests a candidate’s Reasoning skills and methods. Make sure you practice questions from Previous Years’ Papers 2 hours a day for better results in the Reasoning Section exam.

3. English Language

English language skills and its various components like Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, and Grammar are tested in this exam. Therefore, it becomes necessary to practice English questions for 2 hours a day along with Sectional Mock Tests.

4. General knowledge

GK requires a daily plunge into the Newspaper and focus on all the important News and happenings. Try to invest 1 hour daily and test your knowledge on all the important topics via Mock Tests.
