Directions: Answer the questions based on the information given below.

There are 8 boxes which have different colors among Black, Grey, Red, Orange, Pink, Yellow, Green, and Blue, but not necessarily in the same order. These boxes have different weights and none of them has the same weight. The bottommost box is considered as the 1st box, and the box above is considered as the 2^nd box.

The yellow box has the maximum weight and is an odd-numbered box. The 3rd lightest box is an even-numbered box below the yellow box, and at least 2 boxes are between them. The black box is immediately above the box, which is the 3rd lightest and is heavier than the black box. The box at the top has the lowest weight. There are 3 boxes between the lightest box and the blue box, which is not the 3rd lightest. The orange box is immediately above the red box, which is the 3rd heaviest. The red box is neither the bottommost box nor the 7th box. More than 3 boxes have less weight than the Grey box. The Green box is not the topmost box. At least 2 boxes are between the Pink box and the Yellow box. The orange box is neither the 2nd heaviest nor the 5^th heaviest.

Common Solution:

As the Yellow box has the heaviest and is an odd-numbered box, and the 3rd lightest box is an even-numbered box below the yellow box, and at least 2 boxes are between them, so the yellow box and the 3rd lightest box is either (7,4) or (5,2) or (7,2). As the Black box is immediately above the box, which has the 3rd lightest and has less weight than it, also the box at the top has the lowest weight, so the black box is either box 5 or box 3 and has the 2nd lightest, while the lightest box is box 8. As there are 3 boxes between the lightest box and the blue box, which doesn’t have the 3rd lightest, so the blue box is box 4.

Again, as the Orange box is immediately above the red box, which has the 3^rd heaviest, and the red box is neither the bottommost box nor the 7th box, so the orange box and red box are either box (7,6) or (6,5). As more the 3 boxes have less weight than the Grey box, so the Grey box must be the bottommost box and has either the 2nd heaviest or the 4th heaviest. As the Green box is not the topmost box, so Green box is box 2 and it has the 3rd lightest. Thus, the Pink box is at the top and is the lightest. As at least 2 boxes are between the Pink box and the Yellow box, the Yellow box must be box 5. As Orange box doesn’t have either the 2nd highest or the 5th heaviest, it must have the 4th heaviest, and thus, Grey box has the 2nd heaviest, and Blue box has the 5th heaviest. The final ranking of these boxes according to their decreasing weight, is given below:
