We have come up with the banking success story of Swaha Mahapatra who despite running her family and raising a baby girl, cleared IBPS PO. The obstacles in front of her were nothing when compared to her determination. Having quit her job (as a Trainee Scientist) because of her kid, she became fully determined to get a government job (IBPS PO). Check her banking success story below what all can you pick from her struggles and what all can you apply in your preparation.
Congratulations on your success! Which exams did you appear in till date and what were their results?
Thanks! I appeared in the below exams:
- SBI PO – missed Pre by 0.75 marks
- NABARD Pre- missed by 4 marks
- IBPS PO – cleared in 1st attempt
What was your overall strategy? Did you follow a study schedule? If yes, please share the details.
I couldn’t get time to practice from books. It was the test series of PracticeMock that helped me a lot. I used to appear 1/2 mocks in the morning and analysed them in the afternoon. I followed this routine for almost everyday until Main examination.
Analysing mocks gave me the idea that I am strong in english and too slow in Quant. So in the last week before exam, I practised Quant section a lot.
For reasoning, I always went for the one-liners first(Direction, blood relation, syllogism) instead of puzzles.
In Quant Section, I attempted DI section first, then Quadratic equations followed by other questions.
English is always my strength. I had covered grammar books (Wren n Martin, JC Nesfield, Word power made easy) during my school and college days. I just needed to brush up the things. I even used to read a lot of novels which eventually helped me in Reading Comprehension section. I scored 29/30 in English (pre) and 33.xx in English section in Mains Exam.
I scored 91.xx in mains and 80 in Interview. Final score is 48.49
For Interview I prepared for Current Banking awareness from a variety of sources over internet. I was asked questions related to my home state, NPA and how to tackle, online fraud and how to tackle, Women empowerment, famous personalities during my interview.
Did PracticeMock help you in your success?
PracticeMock is the only site I relied on. I didn’t have the time to practice from variety of sources. I found the Test series of PracticeMock to be of very productive and helpful. The quality of questions and the analysis provided are highly satisfactory.
I would even like to recommend every SBI/IBPS aspirant to go through the test series provided by PracticeMock. It will definitely be helpful.
What’s your message for the fellow aspirants who are preparing for competitive exams?
My name is Swaha Mahapatra. I want to present a brief introduction of myself. I have completed my Btech in Mechanical Engineering in 2011 and Mtech in Mine Safety Engineering in 2014. Previously, i was working at Essar Power MP Ltd for a year as Assistant Manager and at CSIR-CIMFR as Trainee Scientist until 2016.
In the year 2016, I was blessed with a baby girl. With that bundle of Joy, came lots of responsibilities; for which I left my job at CSIR-CIMFR and decided to be a full time mom and Homemaker.
But by 2017, I started feeling restless. My girl was growing up fast and I thought my career may end soon. I appeared for SSC CGL 2017. Got good score in Tier 1,2 and appeared for tier 3 in july. But soon SSC CGL landed up in court and everything got messed up.
As I was running out of age and could not appear for bank clerical exams. Then I appeared for SBI PO 2018 and missed Pre by 0.75, which was really heartbreaking.
I couldn’t Practice well at home cause I was already preoccupied with my household chores and kid.
Practicemock came as a rescue at that point of time. I sent my kid to a playschool and during that time; I appeared the mocks and when my girl slept, I analysed the mocks.
I would like to say to every candidate preparing ; not to loose hope and keep on practising. There is cut-throat competition outside but as Darwin has suggested, There is always struggle for existence and survival of the fittest.
We have to struggle and practice if we want to survive in today’s world of competition.
Hard work never goes in vain. It was tough for me to study and prepare for exams with a kid. But it wasn’t impossible. I never lost hope, kept faith on myself and kept practising in whatever time available.
So this was her complete banking success story on how she cleared the IBPS PO exam. If Swaha can clear a banking exam, you can too. There are a lot of lessons to be learnt from this banking success story. Learn and implement those lessons and success will be yours as well.
