GATE General Aptitude Syllabus 2024

General Aptitude is a section that tests your verbal and numerical skills in the GATE exam. It has a weightage of 15 marks out of the total 100 marks. You will have to answer 10 questions in this section, of which 5 are worth 2 marks each and 5 are worth 1 mark each.

The topics covered in General Aptitude are listed below:

Verbal Aptitude-Basic English grammar: tenses, articles, adjectives, prepositions, conjunctions, verb-noun
agreement, and other parts of speech
-Reading and comprehension Narrative sequencing
-Basic vocabulary: words, idioms, and phrases in context
Quantitative Aptitude-Data interpretation: data graphs (bar graphs, pie charts, and other graphs representing data), 2- and 3-dimensional plots, maps, and tables
-Numerical computation and estimation: ratios, percentages, powers, permutations and combinations, exponents and logarithms, and series Mensuration and geometry Elementary statistics and probability
Analytical AptitudeLogic: Numerical relations and reasoning, deduction and induction, Analogy.
Spatial AptitudeTransformation of shapes: translation, rotation, assembling, scaling, mirroring, and grouping Paper folding, cutting, and patterns in 2 and 3 dimensions

Crack the GATE with General Aptitude

One of the easiest ways to score high in the GATE exam is to master the General Aptitude section. This section has 15 marks out of 100, which can make a big difference in your rank. You don’t need to spend a lot of time or effort to prepare for this section, as it covers basic topics and concepts.

  10. Be ready for questions on both general topics and mathematics. The general topics include verbal ability, logical reasoning, data interpretation, and numerical ability. The mathematics topics include algebra, geometry, calculus, probability, and statistics.
