With ESIC’s notification of a large number of vacancies being out, aspirants have got another reason to be happy. The application process of these opportunities has already opened on January 15, 2022. We are putting the important FAQs below to clarify all of your doubts.
Ques 1 | When is the last date for application? |
Ans | The Closing Date for submission of Online Application through ESIC website www.esic.nic.in is February 15, 2022. However, candidates are advised in their own interest to apply on-line much before the closing date and not wait till the last date to avoid the possibility of disconnection/inability/failure to log on etc. |
Ques 2 | Can I apply for any state without knowing the local language? |
Ans | There is nothing mentioned in the notification regarding this. So it can be safely assumed that you can apply for the vacancies of any state. |
Ques 3 | Will the exam centre be at the state which I’ve applied for or at my home state? |
Ans | You must select the exam centre while filling out the application form. No request for change of centre/venue/date/session for Examination shall be entertained. ESIC, however, reserves the right to cancel any of the Examination Centres and/ or add some other Centres, at its discretion. |
Ques 4 | How to apply? When will the application link be activated? |
Ans | You can apply online on the ESIC’s official website. The application link has already been activated. |
Ques 5 | Can the fee once paid be refunded? |
Ans | No, the fee paid once can’t be refunded. However, if you belong to any of SC/ST/PWD/ Departmental Candidates, Female Candidates & Ex Servicemen category, the fee of Rs 250 will be refunded (deducting bank charges) once you appear in the Phase- I exam. The fee of all other categories is Rs. 500 and is non-refundable. |
Ques 6 | Do I need to complete any computer course? |
Ans | No! You don’t necessarily need any computer course. However, remember that for UDC, working knowledge of computers including the use of office suites and Databases is essential. Also, you need to pass the Computer Skill Test which is qualifying in nature. |
Ques 7 | I’m from OBC category. Is there any concession for my fee? |
Ans | Yes! Your fee of Rs 250 will be refunded (deducting bank charges) once you appear in Phase- I exam. |
Ques 8 | Will there be any interview for UDC posts? |
Ans | No! There won’t be any interview. |
Ques 9 | Can I apply for more than 1 region/state? |
Ans | The candidates are advised to submit a single online application for a single region/state in ESIC. However, if somehow, he/she submits multiple online applications for one or more Regions/States, then he/she must ensure that online application with the higher “Application Number” is complete in all respects including fee. The applicants, who submit multiple online applications for one or more Region/State, should note that only a single online application with higher “Application Number” shall be entertained by the ESIC and all other applications for one or more Region/State shall be rejected. Fee paid against one “Application Number” shall not be adjusted against any other “Application Number”. |
Ques 10 | What’s the salary of UDC, Steno & MTS? |
Ans | For UDC & Steno, the revised pay as per 7th Central Pay Commission for the post is Level- 4 of Pay Matrix (Civilian employees) with Entry Pay Rs. 25500/-, replaced against Pay Band Rs. 5200-20200/- with Grade Pay Rs. 2400/- of 6th Central Pay Commission. In addition to Pay they will also be eligible for DA, HRA and Transport Allowance and other allowances as per rules in force from time to time. For MTS, the Pay Level – 1 is (Rs. 18,000-56,900) as per 7th Central Pay Commission. In addition to Pay they will also be eligible for DA, HRA and Transport Allowance and other allowances as per rules in force from time to time |
Ques 11 | Can I apply for UDC, Steno & MTS simultaneously? |
Ans | A candidate can apply for more than one post i.e. UDC, Steno & MTS in the same/ different region/state. However, a single application should be submitted for a single post as mentioned in Question 9. Candidates who wish to apply for more than one post shall submit separate application for each post. |
Ques 12 | What will be the pattern of exam like (SSC or Banking pattern)? |
Ans | The exam pattern will be similar to banking exams like IBPS Clerk, SBI Clerk etc. |
Ques 13 | I turned 28 on February 14, 2022. Can I apply for UDC? |
Ans | No! To apply for UDC, your age should be between 18 to 27 years as on February 15, 2022. However, there are upper age relaxations for SC/ST & OBC. |
Ques 14 | Will the General Awareness section have questions from History/ Geography? |

Ques 15 | When are the Phase- I & II exam for ESIC UDC, Steno & MTS? |
Ans | Below are the details: ESIC UDC Phase I- March 19, 2022, ESIC UDC Phase II- April 30, 2022, ESIC MTS Phase I- March 26, 2022, ESIC MTS Phase II- April 30, 2022, ESIC Steno- March 20, 2022. |
Ques 16 | Will there be sectional timing in ESIC exam? |
Ans | For UDC & MTS- There will not be any sectional timing. For Stenographer- Sectional timings are there. |
Ques 17 | Will the marks of UDC Phase-I be considered for Final Selection? |
Ans | No, ESIC UDC Phase –I Preliminary Examination is qualifying in nature and marks will not be reckoned for final merit. |
Ques 18 | How many candidates will be shortlisted for Phase-II? |
Ans | The candidates will be shortlisted for Phase-II in the ratio of 1:10 i.e. about 10 times the number of vacancies in each category on the basis of their performance in Phase – I. |
Ques 19 | What will be the Computer Skill Test comprise of? Will it be of qualifying in nature? |
Ans | The Computer Skill Test will have the below: Preparation of 02 Power Points Slides- 10 marks Typing matter on MS Word with formatting- 20 marks Preparation of Table on MS Excel with use of formulae- 20 marks This test will be of 30 mins. Yes! This test will be qualifying in nature. |
Ques 20 | Will there be negative marking in Phase I & II exam? |
Ans | Yes! A negative marking of 0.25 mark is applicable for each question wrongly answered. |
Ques 21 | How can I make the payment of fee? |
Ans | The payment can be made by using Debit Cards (RuPay/ Visa/ MasterCard/ Maestro), Credit Cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/ Mobile Wallets. c. After submitting your payment information in the online application form, Please wait for the intimation from the server. Do not press back or refresh button to avoid double charge. |
