- Please note that although the syllabus of SBI Clerk are similar, the exam level of both the exams (Prelims & Mains) are different.

The syllabus of this section will be the same for the Prelims as well as the Mains exam. But as mentioned earlier, it’s the difficulty level of the question which will be different. Please note that SBI Clerk Prelims is a speed-based exam and you need to practice very well for this exam while keeping your accuracy in check. Puzzles & Seating Arrangement
- Start your practice with simple questions of puzzles & seating arrangements and slowly move to the moderate & difficult ones.
- If any puzzle/ seating arrangement is taking too much time in the mock test, skip it and move to the next question.
- While practising these puzzles, don’t assume anything. Use the information given in the question.
- Start with a positive piece of information. Don’t start with a negative piece of information.
- Generally, the more number of variables a puzzle/ seating arrangement has, the more complicated & time taking it is.
Syllogism
Generally, Prelims exam has simple and direct questions. In some banking exams of 2019 Prelims, there were even questions related to ‘only’ & ‘if’. On the other hand, in the Mains exam, conclusions are given and you are supposed to find out the statement from the options, from which these conclusions can be drawn. This makes the questions difficult & time-consuming.
Inequalities
- In inequalities questions, you are supposed to figure out the correct relationship between two alphabets and choose the correct option accordingly.
- This relation could be greater than, smaller than, greater than equal to, smaller than equal to and equal to.
- In the Mains exam, to complicate & to increase the difficulty level, inequalities questions are either merged with coding-decoding or direction sense. So, practice all kinds of questions while solving mock tests.

Coding-decoding
- For the Prelims exam, focus on basic coding-decoding questions where certain statements are coded in a certain pattern and you have to identify the pattern and answer accordingly.
- In the Mains exam, the difficulty level of coding-decoding questions can be increased by merging them with some other topic.
- Practice a lot of questions on coding-decoding while solving mock tests. The more questions you solve, quicker you will be able to identify the pattern.
Blood Relations & Direction Sense
- Practice a lot of questions on both the topics: blood relations as well as direction sense.
- In blood relations questions, try to solve questions quickly by drawing family tree and by putting appropriate symbols.
- When it comes to direction sense questions, practice questions which are of moderate level difficulty.
- For the mains exam, questions on blood relations and direction sense
SBI Clerk 2021- New Pattern Questions
SBI is known to introduce new pattern questions in its exams. So don’t panic if you see a question of new pattern. All patterns on which questions are asked all this while were new at some point in time. Think about this; there can’t be any new rule developed overnight in Reasoning. Any question on a new pattern has to be developed on the existing topics. So panicking will not help when you encounter such a question. A question that looks new to you will be new for other aspirants as well. So stay calm, read the question carefully and try to understand what the question is trying to ask and what all concepts will be tested. You also need to ensure that you know all the concepts asked in such a question.
