With around one and a half months left for the exam, it is high time that you pull up your socks and do not leave any stone unturned in your preparation. Further, it is important that you make the best use of the last few days and ensure that you prepare for the exam in an organized manner.

ESIC UDC prelims 2022 will test a candidate in four different areas, namely, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension, with each section comprising of 25 questions each for a total of 50 marks, which means you have to answer 100 questions for a total of 200 marks. Moreover, because the duration of the exam is 1 hour, it means that you have approximately 36 seconds to solve each question correctly. Although it is expected that you may not answer all the 100 questions, you should focus on solving as many questions as possible with cent per cent accuracy. Remember, speed and accuracy hold the key here.

As far as the preparation strategy for the last one month is concerned, you should focus on revising the concept and practising as many questions as possible. Further, it is important that you also start taking mock tests regularly. Taking these mock tests will not only enhance your preparation but also ensure that you get to know about your strength and weakness. In this article, let us look at how you should prepare for individual sections and what your strategy should be.

Strategy for General Intelligence and Reasoning

The objective of this section is to test your logical and reasoning ability and so on many occasions, this section has proved to be a tricky one. Hence, it is important that you are well aware of the syllabus and topics that you need to cover for ESIC UDC Prelims 2022. The best way to crack this section will be to select one topic daily, understand the concept well and then practice as many questions as possible from it. Apart from that, you should get into the habit of practising/solving questions from the previous year papers and also take a mock test pertaining to this section at least once in two days. Doing this exercise regularly will only help you to sharpen your reasoning and thinking skills and in this process, you might even develop your own shortcut which may come in handy during the exam. Remember, you can crack this section only if your concepts are crystal clear and you have spent enough time practising hundreds of questions from each of the topics.

Strategy for General Awareness

The key to conquering this section is to stay updated with current affairs and the best way to do that is by reading good newspapers on a daily basis. You may also refer to our weekly CA capsule which contains all the information on current affairs. Besides that, we would also like to suggest you refer to the most probable current affairs questions that we publish on a regular basis. This contains recent & relevant questions related to current affairs. The other thing you should do is that you should be updated with current affairs of at least the last one year. For this, you may refer to books published by Arihant Publishers or Lucent GK Book or any other books of your choice pertaining to this section.  For your convenience, we have also compiled a list of topics related to General Awareness which have usually been considered important in similar exams. Strategy for Quantitative Aptitude

If you are preparing for topics on quants for the first, then we would suggest that you refer to R.S. Agarwal book on Quantitative Aptitude as it will help you to build your concepts. However, because you have around one and a half months’ time, we would recommend that to prepare for this section you pick up at least one topic every day and work on understanding the concepts. Once you are well-versed with it and feel a little confident about it, then start solving as many questions as possible relevant to that topic. Hence, it is important that you complete the quants syllabus as soon as possible. Further, you should quickly get started with giving mock tests on the quantitative aptitude section as well. Also, make sure that after every mock test you spend some time analyzing the results as it will help you to figure out the topics in which you need to put more effort. Remember, this is one section that can be solved quickly with higher accuracy. However, because you have to solve 25 questions in approximately 15 minutes, it is of utmost importance that you select the easier questions first and mark the difficult ones for later.

Strategy for English Comprehension

Many aspirants of ESIC UDC Prelims consider this section to be tough as there isn’t any straightforward rule to be applied in this section unlike reasoning ability and quantitative aptitude. So, the only way to do well in this section is to practice topics pertaining to this section daily. Remember, this section will be assessing you in the area of Grammar, Vocabulary and Comprehension. One of the important things an aspirant should be working is to tackle this section is to increase their reading speed, especially when it comes to answering questions on reading comprehension. This can happen only when a candidate gets into the habit of reading daily. Also, you should understand what you are reading. Similarly, for questions on cloze test, fillers, sentence improvements, or even word usage, it is important that you understand the flow and context and then proceed to answer. Remember, improving on these things will take time and is only possible if you practice more and more. Hence, we strongly suggest that besides solving previous year papers and taking mock tests specific to this section, it’s the only way you can conquer this section.
