Last minute tips to help you score full marks in all the sections

The preliminary examination for ESIC UDC will be a Computer-Based Test (CBT) and the pattern will be Objective MCQ type. There will be a total of 100 questions of 200 Marks in total from 4 sections – General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension.

Here are the points you need to keep in mind to maximize your score in each section of the exam:

1.      General Intelligence and Reasoning

The General Intelligence and Reasoning section will test your reasoning skills with 25 questions. So, avoid overburdening your mind by starting new topics. Try to attempt the maximum number of questions and leave the difficult puzzles to be solved in the end. Give emphasis to revising questions on different types of puzzles as the weightage of puzzles is more than other topics. In the exam, Start solving the questions which are small and logical, like blood relation and coding-decoding. Then go for Sitting arrangement and other complicated problems.

2.      Quantitative Aptitude

Most of the candidates consider Quants as their strength. Others find it tough and only get rejected in the recruitment exam, just because of this section. The reason is, they have a slow speed in calculations. So, to increase your speed in mathematics, clear your basics. Therefore, practice solving the questions quickly yet correctly. Practice all the important topics and revise shortcut methods like memorizing squares, cubes, and common fractions to decimals to save as much time as you can in the upcoming exam. In the exam, you’ll by yourself understand which questions you should answer first and which questions you have to solve later. It will solely depend on your preparation.

3.      English Comprehension

The English Comprehension section tests your understanding and grip over the language. It is easy to score good marks in this section if you have a good command of basic concepts of English. Practice questions from frequent topics like reading comprehension, cloze test, spotting the error, fill in the blanks, etc. Take as many English quizzes and Mock tests to avoid errors in the actual exam. In the actual ESIC UDC exam, begin with questions on Fill in the blanks and Cloze test. Then attempt Para-Jumble, as they are easy and scoring as well. Spotting the Error can be a bit time-consuming. Then attempt the comprehension part, and then attempt vocabulary-based questions like synonyms and antonyms. These questions can even be answered without reading the passage.

4.      General Awareness

Most candidates invest less time in the preparation of this section as compared to other sections. This is one of the most diverse but scoring sections of the ESIC UDC exam. Candidates must give enough time for the preparation of this section. It is essential to cover events of the last 6 months if you want to counter this section successfully. For instance, revise topics on and around banking and insurance-related topics such as General Insurance terms, History of Banking – Indian context, first banks list, bank foundation years, merger, and nationalization of banks. Topics such as Capital Markets, Money Markets, Inflation, etc. are also important.

You should avoid touching any new topic when there are only a few days left for the exam. It may only lead to utter confusion. Revising new topics at the last moment is not a good idea by any means. You may get really confused by it.  Therefore, try to revise all the topics and notes that you have already prepared. Don’t leave them behind by giving way to new topics. By refreshing all the already acquired knowledge you’ll be able to take the exam with full confidence.

So, whenever any negative thought pops up in your mind, try to replace it with a positive one. For instance, instead of thinking ‘If I‘ll fail in Quants section, I’ll fail in the exam’, think ‘Whatever I’ll score, I will be proud of it. Your self-belief will help you clear the exam. If not, this will be another chance next time to try your luck.

Staying healthy can promote academic performance and help a student reach his/her goals set for the ESIC UDC exam 2022.

You should check all the documents like Admit Card, ID proof, etc. before leaving for the exam centre. Try to reach the exam centre before time. This way, you will be able to get some extra time by reaching the exam centre early which you can use to go through all the instructions carefully.

12. Read all the Instructions Mentioned on Admit Card Carefully

Many candidates mistakenly carry books and notes to the exam centre. But this practice must be avoided. Your mind should be calm before the exam. And studying or revising things a few minutes before the exam may do more bad than good to you at that time. Therefore, avoid last-minute consultations and revisions. It will only confuse your brain.

Best of luck with the exam!
