Yes an SBI Clerk Become SBI PO. An SBI Clerk is eligible to get promoted to the post of SBI PO after a minimum period of 3 years. The candidates can seek promotion through any of the 3 processes given below:
Every year, the Bank conducts the direct recruitment where the employees can get recruited to the post of SBI PO. This process invites tough competition as the exam is taken by lakhs students. Though, many candidates working as SBI Clerk clear the PO exam every year.
Most SBI Clerks take this path as the most preferred process for the promotion. These are internal exams conducted every 2 years. But, the candidates who want to tread on this promotional path have to complete their 3 years of service as a Junior Associate in their respective bank. In addition, he/she will also have to clear the JAIIB and CAIIB exams while working along with this. IIBF conducts these certification exams and it not only helps in promotions but also provides an increment in the salary of the candidate.
The candidates have to fulfill any of the 3 conditions mentioned below:
(i) 3 years of service, along with completion of the CAIIB (Certified Association of the Indian Institute of Bankers)
(ii) 4 years of service, along with completion of the JAIIB (Junior Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers)
(iii) The candidate should have completed a minimum of 6 years of service.
According to the rules of the bank, an employee working as a Junior Associate for a minimum period of 6 years of service as a clerk under the fast track promotion channel or having completed his 12 years of service under the normal promotion channel is required to get promoted to Officer Scale 1. But in that case, the candidate will not be eligible to receive a salary similar to the Officer scale 1, although, his/her powers and positions will be equivalent to a Probationary Officer.

Job Description | -Regularly check deposits and loan payments from the customers. -Help the customers with the transaction and tell them about the latest schemes launched by the bank. -Handle and resolve customers’ inquiries on disputed transactions. -Update the basic data related to the deposits and payments on a regular basis in the bank’s network. | -Work as a Public relations Officer on the behalf of the bank. -Supervise the everyday business of the branch and cross -verify vouchers. -Monitor the inter -departmental work -Cross verify the loan-related documents submitted by the clients. |
