Question 1: The average production of article ‘A’ in 1st 12 days of a month is 350 units, and for next 8 days the average production is 150 units. If the average production in whole month of 30 days is 250 units, then find the average production (in units) in last 10 days.

Question 2: The average age of Ritu, Neetu and Pinki is 30 years, while the ratio of age of Ritu, Neetu and Pinki is 5:7:3, respectively. Find the age of Pinki.

Question 7: Average of 24 numbers is 75. If average of first 20 numbers is 62 and the remaining four numbers are (x – 12), (x – 8), (x + 8) and (x + 12) respectively, then find the value of x.

Question 8: The total number of sweets received by 25 girls in a class is 150. Find the number of boys in the class if the average number of sweets received by each boy is 50% more than that of girls and total sweets distributed is 420.

Question 10: In a class, the average age of 24 girls is 15 years and the average age of all the boys is 16 years. Find the average age of all the students up to two decimal places if number of boys is 25% more than that of girls.

Solution 1: D)

Required average = {(30 × 250) – (12 × 350) – (8 × 150)}/10 = 210

Hence, option d.

Solution 2: D)

Let, age of Ritu, Neetu and Pinki be 5x years, 7x years and 3x years respectively.

According to question,

(5x + 7x + 3x)/3 = 30

15x = 90

x = 90/15

x = 6

Therefore, age of Pinki = 3 × 6 = 18 years

Hence, option d.

Solution 3: B)

Let sixth, seventh and eighth numbers be 4x, 3x and x, respectively.

Sum of 12 numbers = 12 × 95 = 1140

Sum of sixth, seventh and eighth number = 1140 – 80 × 5 – 98 × 4 = 348

So, 8x = 348

Or, x = 43.5

So, sixth number = 4 × 43.5 = 174

Hence, option b.

Solution 4: D)

Sum of 18 numbers = 18 × 25 = 450

Sum of 20 numbers = 20 × 30 = 600

S, x + y = 600 – 450 = 150 ——(i)

And, x – y = 20 ——-(ii)

From (i) and (ii),

x = 85, y = 65

Hence, option d.

Solution 5: B)

Sum of 15 numbers = 54 × 15 = 810

Sum of the rest three numbers = 810 – 40 × 8 – 46 × 4 = 306

Desired number = 8/17 × 306 = 144

Hence, option b.

Solution 6: C)

Total runs scored in 32 matches = 32 × 80 = 2560

Total runs scored in 40 matches = 40 × 85 = 3400

So, x = (3400 – 2560)/8 = 105

Hence, option c.

Solution 7: C)

Sum of 24 numbers = 24 × 75 = 1800

Sum of 20 numbers = 20 × 62 = 1240

According to question

x – 12 + x – 8 + x + 8 + x + 12 = 1800 – 1240 = 560

Or, 4x = 560

Or, x = 140

Hence, option c.

Solution 8: A)

Number of sweets received by boys = 420 – 150 = 270

Average number of sweets received by each boy = 1.5 × (150/25) = 9

Number of boys = 270/9 = 30

Hence, option a.

Solution 9: D)

Required average age = (16 × 25 + 20 × 35)/36 = 30.55 ~ 30 years

Hence, option d.

Solution 10: B)

Required average = {(24 × 15) + (1.25 × 24 × 16)}/54 = 15.55 years

Hence, option b.
