- Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has announced #FOSS4GOV Innovation Challenge to accelerate adoption of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) in Govt departments.
STATES AFFAIRS
- Tamil Nadu Govt has decided to reopen Vedanta’s oxygen manufacturing plant at Tuticorin after considering the urgent need for increased oxygen production.
INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS
- China’s first Mars rover will be named Zhurong after a traditional fire god. The rover is aboard the Tianwen-1 probe that arrived in Mars orbit on February 24 and is due to land in May.
- The 19th edition of Indian and French Navy bilateral exercise titled as ‘VARUNA-2021’ has been commenced in the Arabian Sea
- The exercise will be conducted from 25th to 27th April 2021.
- INS Kolkata, INS Tarkash, INS Talwar and Chetak integral helicopters will participate in the exercise
- It was initiated in 1983 as Indo-French naval cooperation plays a key role in the two countries’ joint vision for a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific.
- Saudi Arabia will join United States, Canada, Norway, and Qatar in forming ‘Net Zero Producers Forum’ for oil and gas producers
- The forum will about the implementation of the Paris Agreement on climate change and ways to achieve net zero carbon emission targets to limit global warming.
- Saudi Arabia aims to reduce its carbon emissions by generating 50% of the country’s energy from renewables by 2030.
