AFCAT Exam- 25 Days Study Plan

If you are preparing for the AFCAT exam, you might be wondering how to plan your study schedule effectively. The AFCAT exam is a competitive test that assesses your aptitude, general awareness, verbal ability, numerical ability and military aptitude. To ace the exam, you need to have a clear and realistic study plan that covers all the topics and allows you to revise and practice regularly. Here are some tips on how to create a study plan for the AFCAT exam:

Acquaint Yourself with the syllabus and exam pattern

The first step is to familiarize yourself with the syllabus and exam pattern of the AFCAT exam. The syllabus covers four sections: English, General Awareness, Numerical Ability and Reasoning and Military Aptitude. The exam pattern consists of 100 questions, each carrying 3 marks, with a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer. The total duration of the exam is 2 hours. You can find the detailed syllabus and exam pattern on the official website of the Indian Air Force.

Allocate time for each section

The next step is to allocate time for each section according to your strengths and weaknesses. You should give more time to the sections that you find difficult or have less knowledge of, and less time to the sections that you are confident or have more knowledge of. However, you should not neglect any section completely, as you need to score well in all the sections to qualify for the exam. A possible time allocation for each section is as follows:

  • English: 30 minutes
  • General Awareness: 40 minutes
  • Numerical Ability: 20 minutes
  • Reasoning and Military Aptitude: 30 minutes

Make a daily/weekly/monthly schedule

The next step is to make a daily/weekly/monthly schedule that divides your study time into manageable chunks. You should set realistic and achievable goals for each day/week/month, and stick to them as much as possible. You should also include some breaks and leisure activities in your schedule, to avoid burnout and stress. A possible daily/weekly/monthly schedule is as follows:

  • Daily: Study for 4-5 hours, covering one or two topics from each section. Review what you have learned and solve some practice questions.
  • Weekly: Study for 25-30 hours, covering all the topics from each section. Take a mock test at the end of the week and analyze your performance and mistakes.
  • Monthly: Study for 100-120 hours, covering the entire syllabus from each section. Take two or three mock tests at the end of the month and revise your weak areas.

The next step is to use good study materials and resources that help you understand the concepts and topics better. You should use books, online courses, videos, podcasts, blogs, etc. that are relevant and updated for the AFCAT exam. You should also refer to previous year papers and sample papers to get an idea of the type and level of questions asked in the exam. Some of the recommended study materials and resources for the AFCAT exam are as follows:

Books

AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test) by Arihant Publications, AFCAT Topic-wise Solved Papers by Disha Publications, Lucent’s General Knowledge by Lucent Publications, Objective General English by SP Bakshi, Quantitative Aptitude by RS Aggarwal, A Modern Approach to Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning by RS Aggarwal.

Revise and practice regularly

The last step is to revise and practice regularly what you have learned. Revision helps you retain the information better and recall it faster during the exam. Practice helps you improve your speed, accuracy and confidence in solving the questions. You should revise your notes, formulas, shortcuts, tricks, etc. at least once a week. You should practice at least 10-15 questions from each topic every day. You should also take mock tests at regular intervals and monitor your progress and improvement.
