Hello….I’m Anu Balakrishnan from Kerala..I started my preparation in June 2021. I am a B Tech graduate specialised in Civil Engineering. I completed my graduation in the year 2019 and joined an offline coaching institute right after my graduation..But I had to discontinue it as I joined as a trainee in Civil engineering section of a PSU in Kerala… After my contract period, I started preparation for Bank exams from June 2021 by self study. I appeared for all the exams and cleared the preliminary of most of them but could not make it into the final list …After facing some failures, finally I succeeded in the exams of both Clerk and PO of the South Indian Bank….Yes, I cleared both the test and interview of PO and Clerk and now I’m provisionally selected for both the posts.Also I’m in the reserve list of IBPS Clerk in Unreserved category from Kerala!!! If I tell you, I cleared the exams in just 6 months of hardwork and dedicated preparation…

English Section Preparation Strategy

As I studied in English medium school (Kendriya Vidyalaya), I’m above average in English and I did not have to put much effort to ace this section…Even then,from the day I started my preparation for Bank exams,I made it a point to read the editorial of THE HINDU and jot down the unfamiliar words and phrases and revise it periodically. Also ,I used to attempt the sectional mock tests, full length tests as well as Reading Comprehension tests from Practice Mock.

Quantitative Aptitude Section Preparation Strategy

Quantitative Aptitude was the most challenging section for me even though I’m from B Tech background, especially some of the arithmetic topics like Mixture and Alligation, Permutations and Combinations,etc…First of all, I cleared the basics of arithmetic and practiced some of the important topics from book of R.S Aggarwal and relied on mocks of PracticeMock… (The most important thing I did was to study the tables upto 30, Squares upto 50, Cubes upto 40, Percentage to fraction values…These things greatly helped me improve my score in Pre exams as well as solve the DI easily!.)

Reasoning Section Preparation Strategy

For me, Reasoning is the easiest of all the sections. Practice is the key to ace this section…Just relying on the mocks of PracticeMock will solve the purpose,as we get questions of all difficulty levels from the mocks!!!

General Awareness Section Preparation Strategy

I relied on the detailed monthly PDF of Affairs Cloud and Mock test of PracticeMock (For exam, atleast 6 months CA must be read and the last 3 months CA must be read in detail without missing a single point)..Even the free current affairs quiz provided by PracticeMock proved to be the best…Revision and attempting mocks is the best way to boost the score in this section!!!

Overall Strategy, Study Schedule & Challenges Faced

“Practice makes a man perfect”..Practice is the key to succeed in Bank exams…Doing as many mocks as you can and analysing them thoroughly will solve the purpose… I did not follow a particular schedule..What I did was to clear the concepts in the morning and practice in the night..I did not wait for the full syllabus to complete to give the mock tests…Once I completed the important topics,I started giving mock tests and analysed them thoroughly and rectified the mistakes I committed.I made a checklist each day,to complete certain topics and I made it sure that I completed them before going to bed…Yes…my journey was full of ups and downs…I had to face many failures and stressful situations…But my family supported me like anything, especially my brother who motivated me in my failures….The whole credit of my success is dedicated to my family!!!
