Shubham Gautam’s Success Story
Hi friends, my name is Shubham Gautam and I am sharing my success story with you all. I have cleared LIC AAO.
Section-wise Preparation Strategy
The first step for any subject should be towards having a clear basic knowledge of that subject. Banking exams ask questions based only on basic knowledge. How well do you know those basic things and how quickly and accurately you can answer those questions is going to determine your selection. The next and the most important step is attempting mocks in an environment that’s as close to the actual exam environment as possible. This will let you know about your strengths and weaknesses. Keep a close look on the percentile and not the score. Coming to the most important part of analyzing your mock attempts, keep a few things in mind:
1. Go through those questions first which you weren’t very sure about and still you attempted those. Check if you marked them right or wrong and what was causing that doubt in your head. Clear that doubt.
2. Go through every question that you have marked wrong. Look where you have got the question wrong. Try not to make that same mistake again. If it helps, make a separate diary for noting down these mistakes. That’ll help you remember those mistakes better.
3. Now, analyze those questions which you have marked correct but only after taking a significant amount of time. Try some other avenues for such questions. Take help of your friends, teachers or internet. Don’t spend too much time on any question.
It’s extremely important to learn the art of leaving questions in the exam. You don’t get any extra marks for attempting tough or time taking questions. So, you should know whether you have to attempt a particular question or not just by looking at it. This can be achieved only by enough mock practice. Lastly, my experience might not come handy for everyone. So, try to have your own strategy for clearing these exams but listen to everyone and adopt those things for yourself which you can connect with.

Overall Strategy, Study Schedule & Challenges Faced
My basics were already strong in Quant and English. Calculation speed was one of my strongest points. So, initially I focused only on Reasoning, did a lot of practice in first 1-2 months and then jumped right away to attempting mocks. Initially my scores were poor despite knowing everything. So, I had to fine tune everything I knew in accordance with the need of the exam. I was very poor at Current Affairs section. So, I knew if I had to clear Mains, this is one section I need to wary of. So, I left everything else and started doing Current Affairs from whatever source I got. And in the end, I sailed through.

Message for the Fellow Aspirants
Try not to stress yourself over these exams. It’s very important for you to have a clear mind when you are attempting your exam in that hall. Have that confidence that you can. If you are feeling low on confidence, secure yourself with a backup option that you’re sure about and then try for better things. Give every exam that comes your way, no job is worse than being jobless.
