The very first day of the seventh month is celebrated as the national doctor’s day. The mentioned date is actually the birthday of the great West Bengal physician and Ex-Chief Minister Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. He was the second chief minister of West Bengal. He was also honoured with the India’s highest ever civilian award “Bharat Ratna.” The day was introduced officially in 1961 by the Government of India.
Since 2005, we celebrate every July’s first Saturday as the International Day of Cooperatives. The larger of aim of celebrating this day is to increase awareness of all the cooperatives which work for international solidarity, economic welfare, and world peace. The aim is also to strengthen the relationships and partnerships between the international cooperative societies or organizations and national governments, and also the local levels.
Such a day was introduced to spread awareness about the zoonotic diseases. They are the kind infectious diseases which can spread from either human to animals or vice versa. The word Zoonoses is a Greek word. Zoo means animals and noses means sickness. It is being recognized since 1885.
The following day was introduced by the UNDP’s Governing Council in 1989 which resides in New York. The aim was to address the concerns regarding the world population issues and about the reproductive health system.
The World Malala Day is celebrated after the popular Pakistani-origin girl Malala Yousafzai. On this very day she made the ground breaking speech at the United Nations about the education of girls. Moreover, it’s about all the hardships she faced and how she stood out as an inspiring example for millions of people all over the world.
The particular day is primarily known for the adoption of the treaty which established the International Criminal Court. It is also referred as the day of International Criminal Justice or International Justice Day.
The great Nelson Mandela was born on this day and it’s in his honour that the day is celebrated. The day was coined on November 2009 and was celebrated for the very first time in 2020 at the United Nations. Mandela was an anti-Apartheid activist, which means that he fought for those who were disadvantaged by the system of racial segregation.
The aim for recognizing this day was to spread awareness about the Hepatitis virus and get people vaccinated for the same. The day was originated in 2008 by the World Health Organisation.
This day is recognized by the UN to ensure the well-being of the present and future generations. It is to remind humans of their responsibilities toward conserving nature for a better world.
The day was originated in 2010 at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit. The agenda is to raise public awareness about the natural habitat of tigers, tiger conservation issues and to promote efforts for tiger conservation at the same time.
